It's HUMMER Time at Golf Show

While the likes of Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya will be preparing for the European Grand Prix at Nurenburgring one of Britains most promising racing prospects will be more concerned with driving of a different kind.

Dominik Jackson, who earlier in the year led the Pacific F2000 series, will be spending April 27-30 at the London Golf Show as part of his bid to make the step up to Formula 1.

Jackson has decided that the best way to make it to the big time is to focus his efforts upon racing in America however, to do so he needs funding.

A number of different avenues to gain the necessary finances are being pursued, one of which is taking him to ExCeL London at the end of this month.

While in America, Jackson came across the Hummer H3 golf buggy, a scaled-down version of the military vehicle, and while its nothing like the vehicle he usually drives he was keen to get involved.

Jackson said: They only go about 20 miles-per-hour which is a bit different to the 160 Im used to, but theyre good fun, look cool and do the job.

When I saw them I thought theyd definitely be popular in Britain if I had the choice of hiring a run-of-the-mill buggy or paying a bit extra and getting a Hummer with a Sony sound system in it I know which Id choose.

While Jacksons assertions about the buggys superior aesthetic qualities are true the distinctive shape of the body and flat-rising windscreen mean it definitely stands out in a crowd you cannot ignore its technical quality.

The four-seat cart is It's HUMMER Time at Golf Show powered by six eight-volt batteries with features including hydraulic brakes and high-speed gears and, in contrast to the rough and rugged appearance of the vehicle, the tyres are a similar smoothness to most other buggies so as not to endanger fairways.

And Jacksons passion for the product has led to him setting up Mini Hummer Europe which holds the exclusive license for the buggies over here and will be selling them starting from 9,375.

Jackson enthused: The buggies only came on to the market last year and weve recently secured the exclusive European rights. Were already setting up sub-dealers in Russia, Holland, Germany and Spain to name but a few.

Were officially launching at the London Golf Show because its big and popular and for us the timing was ideal.

Andy Barwell, the London Golf Shows marketing director, said: Mini Hummer Europes presence at the show is just one example of the entire spectrum of golf products available at the show.

The fact we have been chosen for the European launch of the product is a testament to the reputation the London Golf Show has in the industry and the hard work everyone involved has put in.

The London Golf Show returns to ExCeL, London, from April 27-30, and will cover an area the size of five football pitches, with a four-day retail exhibition aimed at all standards of golfer. Check out the website at: www.londongolfshow.com.
